iPhone 7 low light test music video

I’m continually amazed at how much smaller and more powerful cameras keep getting, and I had to take the opportunity to shoot a music video with the iPhone 7 as soon as it came out. We worked it in some very low light conditions, in addition to shooting at 60, 120 and 240 frames per second. There is a bit of graininess, but all things considered, I’m impressed. There’s definitely room for the image quality to improve, but for everyone who only watches YouTube on their phone anyway, it might not even make much difference. What do you think?

All this footage is right off the phone with no post other than cutting the clips in Final Cut X. We stabilized with a Ronin-M. Throughout the video we used the following resolutions and frame rates:
4K at 30fps (all regular speed clips)
720p HD at 240 fps (lighter & sparkler)
1080p HD at 60 fps (slow motion lip syncing)
1080p HD at 120 fps (all other slow motion)

The song is “Know U” from my 2015 album Cosmos:

LYRICS

the deeper i go, the more that i know
the more i know there is to find
the flame is there, so why are we scared
of the things we try to hide

so i’ll wait for you
long as you need
long as i know
you’ll be with me
there’s so much more
that we haven’t seen

i want to know you
i want to know you
and i’m hoping that you want it
and i’m hoping that you know

the closer we get, the more i want it
you possess my heart and soul
so don’t be afraid, don’t keep me away
from the things i want to know

’cause i’ll wait for you
long as you need
long as i know
you’ll be with me
there’s so much more
that we haven’t seen

i want to know you
i want to know you
and i’m hoping that you want it
and i’m hoping that you know

we could just be fools in love
do you trust me, darling?
though i don’t know much of anything
i know i will be true

and i know you
i want to know you more
and i’m hoping that you want it
and i’m hoping that you know
