Sidechaining has always been an important back to mixing. Typical for the kick and bass. Engineer used to ‘duck’ the bass overtime the kick would it to make space for both of them to live. In today’s music, sidechaining (ducking) is used more drastically to achieve a pumping effect. This effect is typically used in electronic music. In the following tutorial we’ll show you how to sidechain using a ghost track. With a ghost track you can drop the drums out from mix, while maintaining the sidechain effect.
